State Federation/Central Labor Council Affiliation

Affiliating with State Federations and Central Labor Councils

People have more strength when we work together—and so do unions. AFL-CIO state federations and central labor councils bring local unions together in strong, effective state and local labor movements to win gains for working families and build communities.

The more local unions that participate, the stronger and more effective we are.

The AFL-CIO and national unions are encouraging locals to affiliate with state federations and local labor councils to build the solidarity that leads to power. Local solidarity means we are united in our organizing drives, bargaining efforts, legislative fights and political campaigns.
