GETTING AROUND PITTSBURGH

If this is your first time in Pittsburgh, you'll discover that getting around town is convenient and easy—and you have several good choices for transportation.

Taxi service is available either by calling a company dispatcher or going to a hotel or downtown cab stand.

Public transportation. The Port Authority of Allegheny County has more than 875 buses, 83 light rail vehicles and the Monongahela and Duquesne Inc. lines. The service is good all around town and superb around the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. If you're a senior citizen, flash your Medicare card when you get on and you'll ride free.

Paratransit. If you're a senior citizen who lives in Pennsylvania or a person with a disability, you have another excellent option—the ACCESS program, the nation's largest paratransit program of its kind for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
