Public-Sector Rights at Work

Public-sector workers are facing unprecedented attacks on their freedom to form unions, with newly-elected governors in Indiana and Missouri this year unilaterally terminating collective bargaining agreementscovering state employees. In 2003, Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher (R) terminated state employee bargaining rights when he took office. All three actions came by executive order, but similar legislation efforts—backed by anti-worker lawmakers—are under consideration in several states.
