Working people in all walks of life join together in unions to gain a voice at work. Union members have a say about pay, benefits, working conditions and how their jobs get done—and having that say gives them a “union advantage.”
Become an AFL-CIO e-Activist
Join the Working Families e-Activist Network for occasional action alerts when your voice is needed for online actions with an offline impact. As an e-Activist, you’ll be able to fax your elected representatives and join corporate campaigns for worker justice. Join the e-Activist Network in the box on the right of this page.
If you’re already a union member or if you’re looking for a career in social justice, you can help workers come together, form their unions and win a voice at work by becoming a union organizer. Union organizers are needed at dozens of unions all across America. A great way to become an organizer is through training with the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute. Don’t just get a job, join a movement.

College students and others interested in learning more about the union movement are invited to participate in Union Summer—a program that brings hundreds of workers, students and community activists into the streets and neighborhoods for a four-week educational internship each summer.
